Total Hip Replacement (THR)

The hip is a highly stable joint formed of a ball and socket.
Arthritis can develop in the hip following injury or previous surgery. The most common reason for total hip replacement in India is avascular necrosis of the femoral head.

Total hip replacement is indicated in hip arthritis when :

  • You have pain in the hip during activity and even during rest.
  • You have difficulty in walking.
  • You have a limp while walking associated with hip pain.
  • You have shortening of the leg with hip pain.
  • Previous hip surgery gives rise to pain.

Total hip replacement has consistently demonstrated excellent clinical results over numerous studies and is the gold standard of satisfaction following arthroplasty.
